Unlike Freeview, which is built-in to all new TVs, only a few TVs have a built-in Freesat tuner. Freesat offers a similar service to Freeview but requires a satellite dish rather than an aerial. Freesat uses the same satellite dish and positioning as Sky meaning if you already have a Sky dish you are likely already able to receive Freesat.
Satellite is considered a more robust system than Freeview and is more immune to interference and atmospheric problems. It also offers more channels than Freeview.
The latest Sky Q dishes are not compatible with older Freesat equipment due to the use of a wideband LNB on the dish. To connect older equipment to an existing Sky Q dish we can replace the wideband LNB with a quad LNB to allow older equipment to receive Freesat.
The latest Freesat boxes are now compatible with older quad LNBs and newer wideband LNBs.
